Enjoyed in China for over 5,000 years, green tea is an essential part of the nation’s culture. Unlike black tea, it generally isn’t oxidised, meaning it retains its fresh colour and attractive dried grass flavours. Our Tea Masters source fine green teas from China’s Jiangxi, Anhui and Zhejiang provinces. This area is referred to as the ‘Golden Triangle’ due to the superior quality teas grown there.
We include high-quality Chun Mee green tea in each of these blends – both silvery tips and leaf fannings. This delicate green tea is harvested in the early spring and has a sweeter, nuttier flavour than other green teas. Translating as ‘precious eyebrows’, its name is inspired by the curled appearance of the dried tea leaves. The addition of Chun Mee brings a rounded character to our green tea, which creates a lovely backdrop for the flavoured blends - enjoy it in its purest form in our Green Tea Pure. The leaves are ‘fixed’ by pan-frying in large woks, a traditional technique that seals in the flavours and natural antioxidants of the tea plant. As opposed to steaming and air-drying – the methods used for most Japanese tea production – pan-frying imparts a delicate ‘toasted’ note which makes this style of Chinese tea uniquely satisfying.
To create our Jasmine Romance blend, we layer the above base green tea blend with freshly picked jasmine flower buds. The tea is then left overnight, at which point the buds open up and infuse their sweet, floral scent into the leaves. We repeat this step over several nights to get just the right balance. The result is a 100% natural green tea infusion singing with fragrant jasmine aromas. It’s even won a Great Taste award, impressing the judges with its “bright, clean tea base with appealingly sweet and fresh jasmine character.”
To create the other blends in this selection, we add to our base green tea to transform the toasted grass notes into wonderful flavoured tea expressions. Our Lemon Vitality brings a bold, citrusy twist to the green tea blend with the addition of dried lemon peel pieces. We add juicy mango and lychee pieces to give our Mango & Lychee green a burst of exotic sunshine, while dried pomegranate and raspberries bring a playful character in our Raspberry & Pomegranate blend. Both make mouth-wateringly fruity infusions. Whole spearmint leaves cast their invigorating spell over the green tea in our Mint Mystique – so much so that it also won a Great Taste award. The judges praised it as “a clean tasting green tea with clear spearmint flavours”. We add our unique Ahmad Tea flavourings to each one to intensify the bold flavours, while keeping them perfectly balanced to complement the soft green tea. Each recipe has been lovingly developed and enjoyed over the years, giving you six truly cherished green teas.
You’ll find 10 teabags of each blend in the Evergreen Collection, each individually foil-wrapped for freshness. So, whether you’re after a steamy cuppa for a midday boost, or a refreshing iced green tea to revive your afternoon, you’ll enjoy each of these teas at its best. Each bag is string-tagged to make brewing in cup of pot easier. Infuse the teas in hot (but not boiling) water (around 85°C is ideal) and watch them infuse their sunshine-yellow liquor in your cup for two to three minutes. Breathe in the energising bouquet and prepare for a restorative, refreshing cuppa. For an iced tea, steep the teabag in a little hot water (with sugar to taste) then dilute with water. Pack with fresh fruit and ice cubes for a truly refreshing serve. It’s a lovely way to keep you cool while the antioxidants make for a fabulously revitalising infusion. Enjoy on summer afternoons for a touch of refinery alongside your refreshment.

Each and every morning, my favourite cup of tea would be English Breakfast. It’s strong, it’s coloury, it’s got a wonderful nutty flavour that I really do enjoy, and it takes the milk well.William Manning, Senior Tea Taster
In the UK Head Office we taste over 500 cups of tea every day, to search for the best quality teas available from around the world.Dominic Marriot, Tea Taster
Later on in the afternoon I might try something like a Darjeeling that has the muscatel flavour, or maybe even a high-grown Ceylon, but definitely my favourite brew, and the one that I drink the most of, is English Breakfast.William Manning , Senior Tea Taster
