Cardamom Green Tea - Teabags
Product Code : 1752/12
For green tea lovers with a taste for the exotic, our Cardamom Green Tea is a must-try blend. Pairing our signature Chinese green tea with the unique aromatic notes of cardamom, this delicious brew is both comforting and refreshing in equal measure.
At Ahmad Tea we’re always experimenting with new teas. For this blend our Tea Masters add an exclusive cardamom flavouring (which also stars in our Cardamom black tea – our most popular product worldwide) to our classic green tea. We source this from China’s Jiangxi, Anhui and Zhejiang provinces, an area known as the ‘Golden Triangle’ of green tea production. The blend includes high quality Chun Mee, a special spring-harvested green tea that’s famed for its bright and sweetly toasted flavour. Translating as ‘precious eyebrows’ due to its curled appearance, Chun Mee brings a lovely rounded character to this blend, making the perfect backdrop for the uniquely herbal, slightly menthol notes of the green cardamom.
Green tea has been enjoyed in China for over 5,000 years and is an essential part of the nation’s culture. Unlike black tea, green tea isn’t oxidised, so retains its fresh colour and refreshing grassy flavours. Cardamom is a popular spice right across Asia, the Middle East and Europe. In India it’s used in savoury and sweet dishes – from rice biryanis to creamy desserts – while in Turkey and Lebanon it’s ground into coffee. The Scandinavians love it for their baking, while recently, chefs in the UK have been experimenting with cardamom and chocolate. At Ahmad Tea, we still think it’s best in a cup of tea, adding its exotic aroma to enhance and enrich a quality blend.
Cardamom Green Tea makes a truly versatile blend. Infuse a bag in hot water and watch the colour turn a pretty golden-yellow, then breath in the distinctive bouquet. The balance of the green tea and cardamom elevates both to something even better than the sum of its parts. Uniquely, this tea is both soothing and refreshing, making it ideal for cooler months, or summer sipping. There’s an almost fruity flavour created between the grassy green tea and the cardamom flavour. Brewed light and fragrant, it’s the perfect morning sip, or made stronger and perhaps served with sugar, it makes a delicious afternoon pick-me-up.
You’ll find 100 bags of our Cardamom Green Tea in this convenient flip-top box – perfect for busy tea stations where people like to change up their brews. Each bag is string-tagged to make brewing in a cup or a pot easier. We recommend brewing this tea in hot water at around 80 to 85°C, so the natural goodness of the green tea is retained without any bitterness being drawn out. Simply pour freshly boiled water into your cup or pot and leave it for two-to-three minutes before adding the teabag, or use a kettle with variable temperature setting. This tea is best enjoyed without milk. Green tea has a calming, cleansing effect that revives the senses and refreshes the palate, so it’s particularly good after food. In warmer weather, you can even try our Cardamom Green Tea iced as a uniquely refreshing summer sip. Steep the teabag, then dilute with iced water garnish with a slice of lemon or mint to bring out the fresh flavours.

*Please note, subject to change due to seasonal variations. Each and every morning, my favourite cup of tea would be English Breakfast. It’s strong, it’s coloury, it’s got a wonderful nutty flavour that I really do enjoy, and it takes the milk well.
William Manning, Senior Tea TasterIn the UK Head Office we taste over 500 cups of tea every day, to search for the best quality teas available from around the world.
Dominic Marriot, Tea TasterLater on in the afternoon I might try something like a Darjeeling that has the muscatel flavour, or maybe even a high-grown Ceylon, but definitely my favourite brew, and the one that I drink the most of, is English Breakfast.
